Great pole and excellent support.
After reading lots of reviews and trying several poles including GoPole, UKPro, and a few generic ones, this is one of the best around. A few advantages: First, the extension range. It's 16" (40.64cm) retracted and 39.5" (100cm) fully extended. These are actual measurements from base to top of the mount. The remote clip for the WiFi remote snaps securely on the lower section of the pole but is still loose enough it can rotate around the base as you desire. There's a lot of confidence in the way the remote snaps into it and how it affixes to the pole--it's not coming off by accident. The sections extend smoothly and lock confidently and easily with a small twist. The included thumb screw is a nice touch too. A second great advantage to this over other poles is that the nut is built-in. No losing it or digging around for one when you're in a hurry. A great touch. The third advantage is the weight. Actual weight is 8.4oz (238 grams) with the wrist strap. Very easy to backpack, carry around, or use extended.
I had one quality issue with the first unit I received. The threads on the nut stripped out after two uses. It seemed that the threads were too soft a material and pulled out with the stress of the GoPro mounted. I was a little discouraged that it happened so quickly on an otherwise great an otherwise seemingly well made unit. I contacted support through Amazon and after a very fast response and providing a few details, I was shipped a new replacement right away. I've just received the new one and the threads on the nut seem to be in good order. I'll update after a few months of use to see how they hold up.
Two reasons for the docked star--the stripped thread and (this may be my preference) it would be great to see the base have a threaded tripod receptacle instead of just a bar to receive the wrist strap. Maybe there's some good reasons not to do this, so it's a minor nit.
All in all, I would recommend this based on the range, light weight, built-in nut, and support from Smatree.
